Basecut: cull, rank and color-prep on your computer

Basecut culls a whole shoot into hero, keeper, maybe and skip, tags each clip by what happens in the shot, corrects log footage to Rec.709 per camera and matches color across cameras. One click then opens the project in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, with clips in bins or keyword collections with their ratings and markers. In DaVinci Resolve Studio the correction is applied to every clip. In Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro each clip comes with a .cube file that carries it.

It runs on your own computer. Argus, Basecut's own AI, needs an Apple Silicon Mac with 16 GB of memory or more, or a Windows PC with an NVIDIA graphics card with 10 GB or more of video memory. Other computers can use Basecut Cloud on paid plans or your own Gemini key, which send short reduced-size sections to Google. Original files are never uploaded. Pricing is $9.99 a month while founder spots last, then $19.99, $99 a year, or $149.99 lifetime while founder spots last, then $249, with a 14-day trial and 5 free exports.

The photo-culling names do not open video

AfterShoot's site lists RAW, JPEG and TIFF files and does not mention video. FilterPixel's site describes photo culling and editing, lists RAW and JPEG formats, and does not mention video. Imagen runs two products. Its original tool culls and edits photos. Imagen Video is a separate cloud service that color-corrects video clips across cameras in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, out of beta since April 2026. Imagen's video page also lists an Assistant Editor, labeled beta, that it says sorts a wedding's clips after you upload your footage (imagen-ai.com/video, read 2026-10-10). The other tools that touch wedding video

Jumper is a search tool. Its site calls it a search engine for your footage: it finds clips by description, spoken words or face, in its own app or as a plugin for Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Avid Media Composer. We found no culling, ranking or color correction on its site.

DaVinci Resolve 21 added IntelliSearch, a Studio-only feature (the paid $295 one-time edition, not the free version) that searches an already-analyzed Media Pool by visual content, transcript text or metadata, after a one-time AI model download. It is search inside footage you already imported. It does not rank takes or reject junk. Adobe Premiere Pro's Media Intelligence works the same way inside Premiere: it tags each clip by imagery, spoken words and metadata, then lets you search in plain language. It ships with a Premiere Pro subscription and is a search layer, not a reject-and-rank pass on a raw card dump.

Wedit builds the creative edit. You upload your footage to its servers, sort clips into sections, choose music and a length, and it builds a first cut to review. It is priced per film: after a free first project, $89 for a full film and $119 for a highlight film, or $699 a month on a launch offer its site says is open until October 31.

For a wedding or event shoot, use Basecut. Jumper, IntelliSearch and Media Intelligence only if search is all you need. Wedit only if you want software to cut the film for you, are fine uploading your footage, and pay per film.
